This driveway in a small front garden was transformed from a 1970’s original with restricted parking for one car, into an interesting and spacious area with planting providing year round interest and plenty of space to park.
The wish list was simple:
The magic wand
A reduced raised planting area provided sufficient space for two cars, and created a strong shape. Existing natural stone was reused to finish the edge. A simple pallet of colours carried through into the materials and planting, layed in a geometric grid suiting the architecture of the house. Evergreen ground cover plants for low texture and form with interest created above by introducing a single multi stemmed shrub which displays attractive white flowers in spring and blazing orange red foliage in autumn together with berries which the wildlife enjoy too.
A joy to come home to. With interesting texture, form and colour all year round, all enjoyed by the lighting which highlights the texture of the raised stone wall and leads the way to the front door.
