From weedy to wonderful
Sunny, elevated and with great views, it was a natural choice to landscape and plant this area for maximum benefit.
The wish list
I could see this area had great potential and suggested that much more could be made of it, both as a great view from inside the house, and as a place to enjoy extensive views over the local area.
The magic wand
With natural screening from the neighbours, this design incorporated a curved path leading to a seating area that was big enough for the whole family to enjoy. The path continues to curve round and down to a second, secluded seating area with privacy from an existing hedge.
A good mix of plants was selected to give year-round interest in colour, form and fragrance. Strikingly colourful winter stems are set against evergreen shrubs, and spring bulbs and shrubs carry the garden into the summer, when bold colours take over. Dramatic autumn flowers and foliage ensure that this garden always has something to offer.
The owners love this new area, which can be enjoyed in many ways, whether they are looking out from the house or sitting out and enjoying the view.
